Jared Padalecki couldn’t stay away from network television for long.

Following the star’s four seasons on Walker , Padalecki will return to CBS for Season 3 of Fire Country . The former Supernatural star will be featured in a three-episode arc on the show, according to Deadline .

Ultimately, Walker was canceled due to financial issues, despite the show being the most watched on The CW , Deadline reports. In addition to starring, Padalecki was an executive producer on the series.

On Fire Country , Padalecki will play Camden, a “SoCal firefighter and maverick with a surfer swagger who is a force to be reckoned with and immediately recognizes Bode’s (Max Thieriot) raw talent,” per Deadline.

To head off any further speculation about Padalecki joining the cast full-time, sources close to the deal between CBS Studios and the actor clarified that the deal is strictly for the three-episode arc, meaning it is unlikely that the star will be featured on the show again this season, per Deadline.

Fire Country hit the ground running at its debut, with Season 1 earning the title of most watched broadcast series on the network. Naturally, this caught the attention of CBS execs, who recently approved a spinoff of the show titled Sheriff Country , which will premiere in the 2025-26 season.

After its initial airing, Fire Country did well on Netflix , with Season 1 hitting the streaming platform on Aug. 1 and quickly becoming No. 3 in the platform’s daily rankings, per Entertainment Weekly . Season 2, which finished airing in May, is expected to hit the platform next summer.

Padalecki is not only in demand with CBS, however. There have also been reported talks between the actor and The Boys creator Eric Kripke , who worked with Padalecki on Supernatural . In an interview with Deadline back in June, Padalecki confirmed that he’s spoken to Kripke about a potential role on The Boys , and that his “answer is yes” should he be officially asked to join the show in the future.

Even though we may be missing Walker , one thing is for sure: fans will definitely not have to miss Padalecki’s face on their televisions for long.
