Peacock is bringing new horrors your way this spooky season. The streaming service is releasing a new horror/thriller show titled Teacup , which will premiere on the streaming platform this October.

The series “follows a disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive,” per a press release shared with DECIDER.

In a brand new teaser for the show, we don’t see much, but the brief visuals shared are certainly unsettling — and the chilling audio is even creepier.

Viewers see the words “we are in control” flash on the screen, and change into “we are not in control.”

It is clear that the majority of the story will revolve around a family’s house and barn in Georgia and the woods surrounding it. The teaser introduces viewers to some of the main characters in the show, including a child, who can be seen laying on the ground with blood smeared on his forehead, before the final image shows up: a hand placing a bloody teacup over a pile of marbles.

The series stars Yvonne Strahovski , Scott Speedman and Chaske Spencer , who have been seen in The Handmaid’s Tale , Grey’s Anatomy , and The English respectively. The show is produced by James Wan ’s production company Atomic Monster and boasts Ian McCulloch as the showrunner.

Teacup ‘s story is inspired by the New York Times bestselling novel Stinger by Robert McCammon.

Showrunner McCulloch said that when the project was originally brought to him, he didn’t want to get involved. However, after reading the story, the vision came clearly to him.

“I read Stinger and it stayed with me,” McCulloch said in the release. “Wouldn’t leave me alone. I just couldn’t stop thinking about its razor-sharp premise, how it unfolds over the course of a single harrowing day, and about the relatable and real family McCammon puts center stage. That’s when the flash bang-light bulb idea hit.”

Executive producer Wan felt the same spark as McCulloch after being exposed to the original story.

“The story had all the ingredients for a captivating series and Ian McCulloch had a vision to bring it to life in a fresh way that was both startling and darkly atmospheric, but filled with a rich sense of humanity — often lacking in edgy narrative,” Wan said in the release, adding, “ Teacup defies easy labels. It’s a genre-bending blend of horror, mystery, and drama, with layers that unfold like a captivating puzzle.”

The first two episodes of Teacup will premiere Oct. 10 on Peacock and will be followed by two episodes weekly through Halloween.
