The cast also includes Jordan Peters, Anna Chancellor , Dominic Cooper , Kate O’Flynn, Rob Brydon , Abbie Hern, Isabella Brownson, Robyn Betteridge, Henry Ashton, Máiréad Tyers, Michael Workeye, Joe Klocek, Brandon Grace, Jim Broadbent and Will Keen.

The series was created by Gemma Burgess and is based on the 2016 YA historical fiction novel of the same name written by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows.

The official logline for the series reads: “Gird your loins for the tragic tale of Lady Jane Grey, the young Tudor noblewoman who was Queen of England for nine days and then beheaded, back in good ol’ 1553. Actually… f*ck that. We’re retelling history the way it should have happened: the damsel in distress saves herself. This is an epic tale of true love and high adventure set in an alt-universe of action, history, fantasy, comedy, romance, and rompy-pompy. Buckle up.”

Nicknamed the Nine Days Queen, Lady Jane Grey was one of England’s monarchs with the shortest rule.

Burgess also served as executive producer and co-showrunner with Meredith Glynn on the series. Jamie Babbit, Sarah Bradshaw, and Laurie MacDonald served as executive producers, with Babbit also directing five of the eight episodes.

According to Deadline , My Lady Jane was one of the best-reviewed new shows this year, but it failed to reach a large enough audience.

Despite receiving a 91% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the series never landed on Nielsen’s Top 10 weekly streaming rankings for originals.
