    Drew Barrymore Admits That Her Intimate Interviewing Style On ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ Is “Not Everyone’s Favorite”: “Sorry To Those People”

    Drew Barrymore is known for getting up close and personal, but gets that’s “not everyone’s favorite” way to be.

    While speaking with Entertainment Tonight following the news of The Drew Barrymore Show ‘s two-year renewal, Barrymore claimed that she will “try to practice physical distance,” which she admitted is “not [her] strong point.”

    “Do you know how hard the pandemic was for me?” she teased. “I was alone in a studio by myself! I like to be around people.”

    While she said her intimate interview style is “not everyone’s favorite,” she added that she’s “sorry to those people.” As for her other aspirations for the upcoming seasons, she explained that they are “always going to be big on joy and laughter and feeling good.”

    “That was something I always wanted to do, but I never thought we would launch in a pandemic,” she continued. “And trying to lean into the joy and the feel good and the comedy at that time was real weird and wacky.”

    Even her co-host Ross Mathews teased during an episode in April that if Barrymore were to be arrested for anything, it would be for “invading” someone’s personal space .

    “…like, ‘Hi. I don’t know you. But I’m hugging you so hard,'” he quipped at the time.

    Nonetheless, Barrymore noted in her ET interview that she strives to “bring the joy, the funny, the warmth, [and] the news” in upcoming shows.

    “I am so into working on myself as a person that I think that’s always going to be a big part of the show, is how do we live a life? And what makes us thrive, not just survive, and that’s different for everyone,” she shared in part, later adding that she “love[s] listening to people” and “learning from people.”

    Per CBS’ press release, the Season 6 renewal of The Drew Barrymore Show brings the show “through the 2025-2026 season.” President and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures Wendy McMahon called Barrymore “a one-of-a-kind talent who is an integral part of the CBS and Paramount family” in a statement.
