Car scout and salesman Rob “The Rabbit” Pitts , best known for starring in the Netflix reality series Tex Mex Motors , has passed away at the age of 45 after a battle with stomach cancer.

Pitts passed away Sunday (Aug. 25) evening in hospice care just hours after sharing a video on YouTube in which he detailed his cancer journey and bade farewell to fans. His videographer confirmed his passing in the comment section of the video, writing, “I will be sure to preserve the channel. He will be missed and we will never forget him!”

In a series of statements laid over touching photos of Pitts with his loved ones, the Netflix star explained that he began feeling “off” and “losing weight” in 2023 right before filming Tex Mex Motors Season 2. After he began experiencing “acid reflux-like symptoms” while filming, Pitts said he sought treatment at urgent care clinics “a few times” but did not “get to the root of the problem.” It wasn’t until a friend on the show urged him to go to the ER, thinking he was suffering from “gallbladder issues,” that he would finally be diagnosed.

“It was there at the end of March I was diagnosed with stomach cancer,” the video states. “Since then I’ve been getting treatments at home, and it’s been rough. More bad days than good, but hanging in there.”

Pitts concluded his message by telling fans, “Don’t be sad for me.”

“I have a lot to live for and life has been going my way,” he said. “… I accomplished my dream of buying my own store, finishing Season 2 of Netflix, and marrying the love of my life.” The video included a photo of himself and his wife, Randi Foraker. He added, “Luckily she doesn’t mind doing long term things with a short-term guy.”

He also warned fans to listen and seek answers if “your body is telling you something is wrong.”

Tex Mex Motors followed a cast of car enthusiasts who set up an auto body shop near the U.S.-Mexico border where they restore vintage cars from Mexico. Pitts and his co-star Scooter Carrera scouted the border for cars that they could restore and flip for a profit. But the shop faced several challenges, including whether they can make $250,000 in just four months.

Pitts was remembered by many of his cast mates, including Carrera who shared a photo of himself and Pitts on social media, writing, “I AM BEYOND SAD!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP/CAR ADVICE/SARCASM/JOKES!!!”

Engine specialist Jaime Hjelm shared a tribute to Pitts, as well. “You were the best story teller and you made me laugh until I cried sometimes,” she wrote . “You were like a brother to me, holidays and nights working to make something great.”

According to the social media account of fabricator Wesley Zachary, filming on Tex Mex Motors Season 2 ended in April. A premiere date has not been announced yet.

Pitts is survived by his wife, Randi Foraker.
