My Lady Jane fans received a rude awakening this month.

The historical fantasy series was canceled by Prime Video after a single season, which was released on June 27, despite the series touting a 94% average Tomatometer score and an 89% average Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes .

Decider contributor Joel Keller urged prospective viewers to STREAM IT in his My Lady Jane review , citing the performances of Emily Bader (Lady Jane Grey) and Máiréad Tyers (Susannah) among others, and noting that “the actual parallel-universe story is an intriguing one to follow.”

Prime Video billed the series as a retelling of the story of Lady Jane Grey, “the young Tudor noblewoman who was Queen of England for nine days and then beheaded, back in good ol’ 1553.”

“We’re retelling history the way it should have happened: the damsel in distress saves herself,” their description continues. “This is an epic tale of true love and high adventure set in an alt-universe of action, history, fantasy, comedy, romance, and rompy-pompy. Buckle up.”
