Taylor Sheridan ‘s espionage thriller is returning for another season this fall.

Paramount+ unveiled a series of dramatic first-look images from Special Ops: Lioness Season 2, offering a glimpse at what’s to come to Zoe Saldaña ‘s CIA officer protagonist who leads the Lioness program in the field as the agency takes on the war on terror. Nicole Kidman , who plays Joe’s boss Kaitlyn Meade, will return for Season 2, as will Morgan Freeman , who will be reprising his role as U.S. Secretary of State Edwin Mullins. Saldaña and Kidman also serve as executive producers on the series.

Lioness Season 2 will premiere on Paramount+ Sunday, Oct. 27, with a two-episode premiere and new episodes airing each week.

In Season 2, the terroristic threat will come closer to home, driving Joe and Kaitlyn to recruit a new Lioness operative to infiltrate the “previously unknown threat.”

“With pressure mounting from all sides, Joe is forced to confront the profound personal sacrifices she has made as the leader of the Lioness program,” a release from Paramount reads.

The new images also reveal that The Umbrella Academy actress Genesis Rodriguez is joining the cast. According to People , Rodriguez will be playing helicopter pilot, Captain Josephina Carillo, otherwise known as Josie.

Saldaña told People that Season 2 will start off with Joe “taking some time off” to reconnect with her family after she struggled with balancing her demanding job with her personal life in Season 1. But that vacation won’t last for long.

Though she didn’t reveal much about the Season 2 plot, she teased that Joe and Josie may not see eye to eye when Season 2 kicks off this fall. “It’s a strange relationship — there’s a lot of mistrust from the beginning,” she said.

However, Joe and Kaitlyn’s relationship is built on “absolute trust,” Saldaña said.

“Joe has always looked up to Kaitlyn and Kaitlyn knows that there is nothing that she can ask of Joe that she won’t deliver on,” she said. “Joe always demands excellence from herself and from her team because she regards Kaitlyn so highly and having her respect is very important to her because they’re very much Lionesses, both of them. In terms of driving missions, they believe in what they’re doing and believe in the Lioness program.”

According to Paramount, filming is still underway in Texas after production kicked off in May.

The original drama series is inspired by the real-life unit of female Marines who were utilized to interact with and gain intel from women in Iraq and Afghanistan as local customs bar men from searching them.

The thrilling series is just one of Taylor Sheridan’s several programs for the streamer, including Tulsa Kin g , Mayor of Kingstown , and Yellowstone spinoffs 1923 and 1883 .

Lioness Season 2 premieres on Paramount+ Oct. 27.
