‘Bel-Air’ Star Olly Sholotan Hopes Fans Are Ready For Carlton’s “Redemption Season”: “Everyone’s About To Be Obsessed”

The latest installment of the hit Peacock series follows Will Smith (Jabari Banks) and the Banks family as they work deal with difficult issues in the steamiest season of the year. Will and recovering addict Carlton ( Olly Sholotan ) work on their Blackccess entrepreneurship/ philanthropy venture while toiling at the Beverly Hills Country Club. At the same time, their friends—including Carlton’s beguiling but troubled new girlfriend Amira (Alycia Pascual-Peña) and Will’s longstanding girlfriend Lisa (Simone Joy Jones)—have their own ambitions and struggles. What better place to process their feelings than a pool party at the Banks’ home? In this exclusive clip, Will, Carlton, Lisa, Amira, Will’s ex Jackie (Jazlyn Martin) and country club co-worker Zaire (Bentley Green) share with the group what they are going through. First up is Will, of course. “Is there anything you’d want to reveal or share?” asks Amira. “I’ve been thinking about a few things lately,” begins Will. “Like what?” presses Carlton. “Well, like the fact we started Blackccess to be down for the people yet we’re chilling behind these Bel-Air gates.” As the reality of Will’s statement sets in, he continues: “so of course they don’t think we’re riding for ’em.”

Zaire is the first to speak up. “Yeah, but where you live doesn’t change who you are, bro.” “It’s what you stand for, Philly,” says Jackie. As Lisa shoots a glare at Jackie, Amira turns the focus to her. “Lisa, is there anything you want to share?” Lisa takes a long pause and begins. “Ever since my dad became the DA, he’s been at work nonstop, so I’ve had to help out with my baby brother way more than I expected.” Amid all the baby sitting, Lisa, also a promising student athlete, has also been working hard on her swimming skills with her coach. “I’ve been killing myself trying to get these times up with Nairobi all summer,” she complains.

“How’s that going?” asks a concerned Carlton. “Not great,” replies Lisa. “Some days, I’m like, ‘how am I out here trying to win Nationals when it feels like I’m fucking drowning.'” The group is shocked by Lisa’s confession, but Carlton breaks the silence: “Damn, that’s rough.” Seeing that his girlfriend is hurting, Will, sensing that lately he’s not the best boyfriend in the world, speaks up. “I’m sorry, Lisa, I didn’t know you were going through that.” Sticking up for her girl, Amira gets in the last word. “You shouldn’t have to deal with that shit alone.”

Can Will step up and be a better partner to Lisa? Can Will and Carlton figure out the next move for Blackccess that aligns with their mission statement? Head over to Peacock to find out now!
