The moms of #MomTok were raised with strict Mormon upbringings: no alcohol, no smoking, no tattoos and absolutely no sex before marriage. When they got together and began creating dancing videos for TikTok, they redefined their once-regimented lifestyle with a more modern approach. This, however, didn’t make them any less shocked when Taylor Frankie Paul unearthed a swinging sex scandal among the group.

Paul, who created #MomTok, stunned her millions of followers (and fellow #MomTok creators) when she revealed in a June 2022 livestream that she and her husband were getting divorced after engaging in “soft swinging” with their other Mormon friends.

“The whole group was intimate with each other. Tate has made out with several girls and other things, and I’ve made out with all of the husbands and vice versa,” Paul said in the video, before later admitting that she stepped out of their agreement and cheated on her husband with her current boyfriend (and father of her third child) Dakota Mortensen.

Paul explained in the first episode of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives , which follows the aftermath of the scandal, that these parties were “more like orgies.”

Following Paul’s confession, all eyes turned to the other #MomTok members, who were subsequently accused of being swingers. The rumors surrounding Whitney Leavitt ‘s family, which also included rumblings about her husband being on Tinder, got so bad that she moved to Hawaii for two months to escape the noise.

However, the cast of Hulu ‘s new reality series — which also consists of Mayci Neely , Mikayla Matthews , Demi Engemann , Jessi Ngatikaura , Jennifer Affleck and Layla Taylor — has denied partaking in the scandal.

While dissecting the meaning of “soft swinging” in the first episode, the ladies revealed that Paul and her ex-husband were doing “everything but sex” with other couples. According to Engemann — who had been present at the parties but was unaware of the swinging — they were “swapping” spouses in front of each other while “standing next to each other.”

Now, Paul must rebuild the trust within her friend group as they work to restore #MomTok’s reputation.
