More tongue talk went down on Live with Kelly and Mark on Thursday between Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos .

Ripa asked Consuelos if he has a “scalloped tongue,” which she described as being “scalloped around the edges” while pulling out a picture to show viewers. She confirmed that Consuelos does not in fact have a scalloped tongue, but she hilariously called him out for how he goes about proving so.

“Why do you do that weird thing?” Ripa asked, as Consuelos stuck out his tongue in an exaggerated manner. “Just relax your tongue when you stick it out.”

Consuelos proceeded to make his tongue limp as he attempted to stick out his tongue properly.

Ripa chimed back in, “It’s weird. It’s like he doesn’t know how to stick out his tongue without doing something…”

Consuelos then urged Ripa to stick out her tongue, and she obliged.

As for what a scalloped tongue may mean, Ripa read aloud that “you might have a vitamin deficiency.”

    “Especially B vitamins,” she continued. “B12, B9, B2…”

After Consuelos noted that he “take[s] all that stuff,” Ripa said that those with scalloped tongues “might be clenching or grinding [their] teeth or creating little divots in [their] tongue.”

“You might be dehydrated. You may have limited tongue space,” she added. “It’s a shame. It’s like trying to put your SUV in a garage in New York City. You know what I mean?”

Consuelos quipped, “Right, you gotta bring the mirrors in.”

Ripa also cited “sleep apnea,” “TMJ,” and “a thyroid issue” as potential reasons for a scalloped tongue, as well, prompting Consuelos to tell viewers to “check out [their] tongue.”

“So if you have a scalloped tongue, run to your nearest emergency room,” Ripa joked.

On Wednesday’s (Sept. 11) episode, Ripa had measured the width of her husband and co-host’s tongue after learning that the Guinness World Record folder for the widest female tongue is 7.90 centimeters.
