Dave Bautista is quelling fans’ worries over his shrinking frame.

In a TikTok clip of his recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Bautista shed light on his weight loss, explaining that he “started trimming down for a particular reason,” per Deadline .

Is ‘The Killer’s Game’ Streaming on Netflix or Prime Video?

“One, I started trimming down because I just got fat. I got really big for a role and it was uncomfortably big,” he shared, referring to Knock at the Cabin . “I was like around 315 pounds, and I put the weight on really fast.”

He highlighted that in comparison to his weight gain while competing in the WWE, where he “was carrying lots and lots of muscle,” he was gaining weight “between films” and “had a very short period of time” to do so, in which he resorted to “french fries and pancakes” for help.

“The director asked me, he said, ‘I don’t want you to look like a powerlifter. I just want you to look like a great big guy,” he remembered. “And so now looking back at it, I probably overdid it. I was probably a little too big, but at the time I was just thinking, I gotta get big, I gotta get big, I gotta get big. And I put on an uncomfortable amount of weight, and it took me forever to shed it off.”

He continued, “I noticed the more I trimmed down, the better I felt. And I also noticed the more I trimmed down, the better I looked on camera, the better I look next to other actors.”

“And when I say it out loud, ‘I’m 6’4″ 240 pounds,’ which sounds like when you say that out loud, it sounds like I’m a big person,” he elaborated. “But to me, people have seen me so much bigger over the years that they think I’m like anorexic, but I’m still just a large human being. So at 6’4″ 240 pounds next to your typical actor, I look like a gorilla, and it’s distracting.”

The My Spy: The Eternal City star said that he will “probably lose a few more pounds,” conceding that he is “basically killing [him]self to be this trim.”

“I am training hard. I’m not only training hard, but my calories are pretty restricted,” he remarked.

Other actors have opened up about the difficulties of gaining and losing weight for roles, such as Charlize Theron , who spoke to Allure last year about attempting to lose weight after gaining weight for her role in Tully .

“I remember a year into trying to lose the weight, I called my doctor and I said, ‘I think I’m dying because I cannot lose this weight,’” she rehashed. “And he was like, ‘You’re over 40. Calm down. Your metabolism is not what it was.’ Nobody wants to hear that.”
