He was a hot rabbi, she was a sex podcast host. Can I make it any more obvious?

What I’m trying to say is that Netflix’s charming 10-episode comedy Nobody Wants This , starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, was a smashing success. We laughed! We cried! We swooned! We left wanting to rewatch The O.C. and Veronica Mars ! And, crucially, we’re craving more of Erin Foster’s unconventional love story. But have we seen the last of Joanne (Bell), Noah (Brody), Morgan (Justine Lupe), Sasha (Timothy Simons), and the rest of the Nobody Wants This crew? Or will there be a Season 2 on Netflix?

If you binge-watched the first season of Nobody Wants This , you know that the finale (aka Episode 10, “Bat Mitzvah Crashers”) left Noah and Joanne with some serious questions about their future and perfectly teed up a Season 2 storyline.

So will there be a Nobody Wants This Season 2 on Netflix? Has the streamer canceled or renewed the series yet? And what could a potential Nobody Wants This Season 2 look like? Here’s everything we know about the future of the Netflix series.

Will There Be A Nobody Wants This Season 2 On Netflix?

As of the Nobody Wants This premiere date, September 26, Netflix had yet to cancel or renew the series, but that’s not to say there won’t be a Season 2. It’s typical for streamers to wait a while after a new series (or even a returning one) premieres to announce its fate, but judging by the star power attached to this project, the positive early reception from critics, and the finale cliffhanger, we have a good feeling we haven’t seen the last of Joanne and Noah’s story just yet.

Decider will be sure to update this piece with any Nobody Wants This Season 2 news. Until then, let’s unpack the Nobody Wants This ending and talk about potential Season 2 storylines, shall we?

The final episode of Nobody Wants This Season 1, “Bat Mitzvah Crashers,” saw lots of drama, comedy, and romance unfold at Miriam’s Big Apple-themed bat mitzvah. Joanne and Morgan crashed the event (though Joanne was technically invited). She told Noah she wanted to be with him and made the decision to convert, and though he was excited, he said she had to do it for herself as well, stressing the importance of her personal commitment.

As the night progressed, Joanne began to realize that she wasn’t that excited about her personal journey, and when she followed Rebecca outside, the two had a much-needed heart-to-heart. “You’re the opposite of what he’s always wanted, and that’s exciting, but I don’t know how that fits into his life,” Rebecca told Joanne. “Converting is a big move… Being with a rabbi — it’s his life. He represents the temple, so you represent the temple. People look to you as an example.” When Rebecca told Joanne that she hoped that being Mrs. Head Rabbi is what she wanted, it was clear the pressure was starting to sink in.

Meanwhile, Sasha and Morgan were having a moment together, unaware they were being watched by Sasha’s mother and a scheming Esther, who read through their text messages, learned they were friends, and decided “Those fucking sisters have GOT TO GO.”

Unaware of Joanne’s newfound reservations, Noah was ecstatic to learn he was indeed on track to become the new head rabbi. He excitedly told her, and she said she was happy for him and loved him, but that she couldn’t convert. “I’m just not ready and in so many ways I want to be. But honestly, I was only doing it for you and there are so many beautiful things about Judaism and I’m just not there yet, and I don’t know if I ever will be,” she explained.

Noah assured her they’d figure something out, but Joanne called things off for the sake of his dream. “I see what’s at stake now. You need me to be something I cant promise I’ll be, and if I even falter a little bit your entire life blows up? Thats not fair to you,” she said. “I’m saying goodbye. You can’t have both and I would never make you choose.”

Joanne left the bat mitzvah and a devastated Noah behind, but when she took the shuttle back to the hotel, he was already standing there waiting for her. “So how does this work?” she asked. “Well you were right. I can’t have bot,” he replied. And with a passionate kiss, Nobody Wants This Season 1 concluded, so EVERYBODY wants a Season 2.

What Could Nobody Wants This Season 2 Be About?

If Netflix green lights more of the series, we’ll likely pick up where Season 1 left off and see how Noah and Joanne make their relationship work. Will he sacrifice his dream for her? Will she decide to convert? Or will they choose a secret third thing that’s undoubtedly far more complex? And what’s in store for Morgan and Sasha?! Am I the only one weirdly shipping those loser siblings? (Sorry Esther, please don’t hurt me!)

While we await more updates on Nobody Wants This Season 2, Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
