‘The Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos Is “Lobbying For” An ‘Abbott Elementary’ Guest Role: “I Want To Be On So Badly”

Joan Vassos may be be looking for love on The Golden Bachelorette ‘s debut season, but the 61-year-old school administrator has big dreams of appearing on another hit ABC series: Abbott Elementary .

In honor of Joey Graziadei and Jesse Palmer’s memorable Bachelor crossover with 9-1-1 , Decider asked the Golden Gal which show she’d love to guest star on or do a crossover with if given the opportunity. Without missing a beat, Vassos replied, “Yeah! I’ve already started lobbying for it! I want to be on Abbott Elementary so badly. I flippin’ love Abbott Elementary , and I’m dying to be on it. And I love the cast.”

Earlier this year at at San Diego Comic-Con , Brunson revealed that Abbott Elementary “will be doing an interesting crossover” in Season 4 that “will change television as we know it.” On October 3, fans learned that iconic crossover will be with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (hell yeah!), and while The Golden Bachelorette may be out of luck this season, Vassos doesn’t have to lose hope just yet…

Fans of Abbott know that Quinta Brunson’s Emmy-winning comedy has welcomed its fair share of jaw-dropping guest stars over the years — from Gritty and Philadelphia Eagles players to QuestLove, Kevin Hart, Bradley Cooper, and more. So while a Joan Vassos guest role may sound like a stretch, it wouldn’t necessarily be out of the question — especially since The Golden Bachelorette lead already works for a school!

“I actually work at a school and my daughter’s a third grade teacher. I’m not a teacher, I’m an administrator,” Vassos told Decider, continuing to make her case.

Another good sign for Vassos? Abbott Elementary ‘s Season 3 premiere actually referenced The Golden Bachelorette , with Sheryl Lee Ralph’s Barbara telling Janelle James’ Ava that she wasn’t “interested in auditioning” for the senior spin-off, because her husband “is still very much alive.” Sounds like Abbott writers are a fan of Vassos’ show, too. And when the mockumentary returns for Season 4 on October 9, it will be sharing Wednesday nights with The Golden Bachelorette on ABC. How perfect!

While Vassos continues to lobby for a trip to Abbott, here’s what fans can expect from the It’s Always Sunny gang’s crossover episode.

“You can expect something fun. If you watch Abbott and you are not aware of this other show, that’s OK. You’re just going to be seeing a regular Abbott episode of television, but if you happen to be a fan of this other show you’re going to be screaming your head off, I think,” Brunson told ABC News’ Robin Roberts . “It’s exciting. It’s invigorating to do something cool like this on TV again… It’s gonna be cool.”

It seems the It’s Always Sunny cast is living the TV dream with this crossover episode, because in addition to Vassos hoping to land a guest star role on Abbott , 9-1-1 ‘s Oliver Stark previously revealed Abbott Elementary is his dream crossover show as well.

Could we see our favorite fictional Philly educators bonding with other unexpected casts in the future? We’ll have to wait and see, but Quinta, if you’re reading this, know that ABC’s Golden Girl is so incredibly down to grace Abbott’s halls if you’ll have her.

New episodes of The Golden Bachelorette air Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC. And Abbott Elementary Season 4 premieres on ABC Wednesday, October 9.
