Drew Barrymore Lets Out “Hot Hotdog Burp” On ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, Leaving Ross Mathews Repulsed

Sometimes you just can’t hold it in. On this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show , host Drew Barrymore shocked her co-host Ross Mathews when she let out a gnarly burp after their hotdog eating contest.

Hotdog-eating champ Joey Chestnut video-called into the studio, where he gave Barrymore, Mathews and Chef Pilar Valdes some tips ahead of their competition. According to Chestnut — who recently scarfed down 83 hotdogs in 10 minutes at the Netflix event Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef — the best things you can do are “stay calm, don’t forget to breathe, don’t bite off more than you can chew,” and “find a rhythm.”

However, his advice didn’t seem to go too far as the trio tapped out at around two hotdogs. Barrymore even ditched the bun after her first serving.

“I thought I’d be better at this than I was,” Mathews admitted, before Barrymore moved on to the next topic.

According to a new OpenTable report , solo dining reservations have gone up 29% over the last two years in the United States.

Barrymore explained, “The rise in eating alone could be a correlation with self-love, self-care, enjoying your own company, empowerment, not being embarrassed, and just living your life on your terms and not waiting for anyone else to hold you back.”

While Mathews attempted to chime in with his opinion, Barrymore swiftly cut him off with a loud burp.

“Sorry, you were saying, Ross?” she said, to which a somewhat disgusted Mathews replied, “Does it matter anymore? A hot hotdog burp in the middle of a sentence. God bless you.”

This is hardly the first time Barrymore’s table manners (or lack thereof) have derailed a Drew’s News segment. During an April episode of The Drew Barrymore Show , a mouthful of food didn’t stop Barrymore from talking to Guy Fieri .

“Can I tell you how cool it is that [on] your show you can talk with your mouth full and just pull it off?” Fieri joked . “You just are gangster. You just roll your own way. Whole mouth full of food.”
