Will There Be A Season 7 Of ‘The Rookie’? ‘The Rookie’ On ABC Return Date

Thankfully, ABC renewed The Rookie for a seventh season in April 2024. So why isn’t the series on the network’s fall schedule? ABC is holding both Will Trent and The Rookie for midseason debuts, allowing the shows to have mostly uninterrupted runs.

“Both of those shows are firing on all cylinders, both in terms of ratings and the performance we see on Hulu,” Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich told The Hollywood Reporter back in May . “We’ll launch them in January, when we have huge promotional platforms in New Year’s Rockin Eve , as well as college football and a huge slate of Christmas programming. To have those shows go uninterrupted just felt like the best way to keep growing them, which is our goal.”

Will Trent and The Rookie should return in January 2025, with both shows likely to air 18-episode seasons.
