R.I.P. Nicholas Pryor: ‘90210’ And ‘General Hospital’ Spinoff Star Dead At 89

Nicholas Pryor died on Monday (Oct. 7), DECIDER has learned. He was 89.

According to a statement from Pryor’s agent Susan Tolar Walters, the late actor, who acted for nearly 70 years and garnered over 170 credits, passed away from cancer.

Walters told Variety that “he was one of the nicest people [she has] ever met and he will be missed.”

Born Nicholas David Probst on Jan. 28, 1935, he performed on Broadway prior to kicking off his on-screen career on The Brighter Day in 1958, per The Hollywood Reporter .

Some of Pryor’s most iconic film credits are Damien: Omen II (1978), Airplane! (1980), Risky Business (1983), Less Than Zero (1987), Brain Dead (1990), Hoffa (1992), Sliver (1993), The Chamber (1996), Collateral Damage (2002), and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (2021). He most recently portrayed a Morgue Doctor in the 2021 Halloween franchise installment Halloween Kills .

As noted by Variety , Pryor acted in several soap operas, among which were Another World , Love Is A Many Splendored Thing , The Nurses , All My Children , One Life to Live , and Port Charles , the spin-off of General Hospital . He also starred on the Ed Asner -led NBC drama The Bronx Zoo , which only ran for 21 episodes.

Other TV credits of his include Little House on the Prairie , Murder, She Wrote , L.A. Law , Moonlighting , Dallas , Beverly Hills, 90210 , Party of Five , NYPD Blue , The West Wing , Nashville , The Outsider , and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier .

Pryor is survived by his wife Christina Belford, his daughter Stacey Pryor, and his grandchildren Auguste and Avril Bas.
