Per Guy’s official Golden Bachelorette bio, the 66-year-old ER doctor from Reno, Nevada “is ready to put himself out there.”

“The emergency room physician has dedicated nearly 40 years to helping others as a doctor, and he is excited about the opportunity to meet someone to share the rest of his life with. Guy is charismatic, confident and romantic and is looking for a woman who is intelligent and funny,” the bio continues. “He loves spending time with his four kids and grandchild and wants to prove to the world that older men still have a zest for life. Guy does NOT fit the ‘grumpy old man’ stereotype and knows he has a lot of life left to live. He is a big believer in chivalry and wants to make Joan feel extra special. Guy is a total catch, and we think Joan will have no trouble seeing that!”

He told her that as an ER doctor, he could sometimes make a diagnosis just off the sense of smell, so he whipped out cologne and let Joan sniff away. There were butterflies in stomachs after their first meeting, and during Episode 2, the two got to know each other more at prom.

In Episode 3, Guy really stood out for his scene with the beloved Charles L, who asked him medical questions about his wife’s sudden death that had been haunting him for years. Guy was patient, kind, and comforting to Charles, and though he didn’t win big on the group kickball date, it seems like he’s on track to get a one-on-one in Episode 4. Now, Reality Steve no longer thinks he’s the winner. So we’ll have to watch how the season plays out for ourselves.
