Looking for a documentary that makes you happy? Then check out Pharrell Williams’s new Lego movie, Piece by Piece , which is actually a documentary about the musician’s life and career.

Directed by Academy Award-winner Morgan Neville, this documentary was produced by The Lego Group, and therefore is, technically, the fifth “Lego” movie. But rather than a fictional story like the other Lego movies, Piece by Piece is a Pharrell Williams documentary which tells the story of Williams life, with the help of a few collaborators. Said collaborators include Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, and Snoop Dogg, all of whom lend their voice to the film.

For now, Piece by Piece will only available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in the U.S. on Friday, October 11. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Piece by Piece is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Piece by Piece is not streaming on Disney+, and will not be on Disney+ any time soon, due to the fact that the film is a Focus Features/Universal release and not a Disney movie. Not every animated movie is a Disney movie! Almost all Universal movies go to the NBCUniversal streaming platform, Peacock . If you want to watch Piece by Piece movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on Peacock.

Piece by Piece is not yet streaming on Peacock. Right now, the movie is only in theaters. That said, we do expect to see Piece by Piece streaming on Peacock eventually, but we’re not sure when. Another Universal release, The Bikeriders began streaming on Peacock on August 9, which was about a month-and-a-half after the film opened in theaters, and about one month after the film released on digital.

If Piece by Piece follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie on digital by mid-November 2024, and streaming on Peacock around early December 2024.

Piece by Piece is not streaming on Netflix right now, but will likely stream on Netflix after four months after it streams on Peacock, as part of Universal’s deal with Netflix that sends Universal animated movies to Netflix for a limited period. If our prediction for the Peacock release of Piece by Piece is correct, then you might see Piece by Piece streaming on Netflix around April 2025.
