‘Unstable’ Canceled At Netflix After Two Seasons

Netflix has decided to cancel Unstable after two seasons.

The comedy series, starring Rob Lowe and his son John Owen Lowe and co-created/executive produced by them, will not be returning for Season 3 on the streamer.

Season 2, which premiered on August 1, failed to make its way onto the Netflix Top 10.

According to Deadline , sources say the producers have already begun shopping the show to other outlets, including Fox .

Since the show is a Netflix original, selling it to another network might prove complicated.

Rob Lowe has close ties to Fox, where he has a first-look deal, as well as hosts and executive produces the game show The Floor , in addition to starring and executive producing departing drama 9-1-1: Lone Star .

The network, however, has already said no to Unstable since its focus is on its own original shows and comedy slate.

In addition to the Lowes, Unstable was co-created by Victor Fresco . The series centers on an introverted son (John Owen) who goes to work for his very successful, wildly eccentric father (Rob) to save the biotech company from failing.

Sian Clifford , Aaron Branch, Rachel Marsh, and Emma Ferreira also star.

The eight-episode second season, which saw Andrew Gurland replace Fresco as showrunner, had been delayed by the strikes. Both Lowes along with Gurland and Sean Clements served as executive producers.

Original comedy series continue to struggle on streaming platforms, with That ’90s Show also recently being canceled. Nobody Wants This , however, was recently renewed for a second season, and Emily In Paris was renewed for Season 5.
