The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show made its long awaited return after six years off the runway on Tuesday night (Oct. 15), and not everyone was impressed.
Critics took to social media to air their grievances surrounding last night’s show, which ranged from complaints about the lingerie and the models, to rants about the runway itself, per The Daily Mail .
“no blowing fans, no bombshell curls, no glittery pink lipgloss and shimmery makeup, no strutting, barely any energy to feed off from the models, NO FANTASY BRA, barely any cute wings, not enough cute sets, stage construction looked last minute, short, october??,” one critic lamented on X .
“It looks so last minute and low budget,” another opined .
Another called out the runway set-up, writing , “That empty warehouse as a runway at the VS Fashion Show last night pissed me off so bad like what happened to fun staging.”
Others felt the show was “ SO SHORT ,” ultimately urging the fashion brand to “PLEASE GIVE [THEM] MORE,” while some pointed out the absence of the “ million dollar bra .”
Meanwhile, another asked “where is the fun,” and “where are the sparkles and the pink?”
Another claimed , “the problem with the victoria secret show isn’t that it got “woke” it’s that the models aren’t allowed to be flirty and fun and upbeat anymore. they’re just walking (and for some reason waving at people in the crowd) like that’s not what was going on in the first place.”
“immediately turned on vsfs 2005…” one critic admitted. “need to forget whatever that was that just happened.”
In their announcement back in May, Victoria’s Secret had promised that the show would”reflect who [they] are today, plus everything you know and love—the glamour, runway, wings, musical entertainment, and more.” The 2019 show had been canceled due to low ratings and controversy spurring from its former chief marketing officer Ed Razek, per TODAY.com .
Last night’s show featured an all-female musical lineup rounded out by Cher , Lisa, and Tyla, as well as trans models Alex Consani and Valentina Sampaio. Among the other models who took the runway on Tuesday night were Ashley Graham , Behati Prinsloo, Tyra Banks , Barbara Palvin, Carla Bruni, and Bella and Gigi Hadid .
