Amanda Riley captured her battle against stage 3 lymphoma on her blog, garnering support from thousands of people who donated their time, kind words, and money to bolstering her cancer journey.
But an anonymous tip to an investigative reporter sent the blogger’s scam crumbling down.
ABC ‘s new documentary series Scamanda uncovers the shocking tale of Riley’s crimes. Based on the number one podcast of the same name, Scamanda speaks to those directly affected by Riley’s claims.
The official trailer for the Scamanda show features those closest to her sharing just how much they supported Riley during what they thought was the hardest point in her life. One person claimed they donated $500 a month to her, while another participant in the doc noted that their community raised $100,000 to support Riley’s cancer journey.
“We thought she was God’s gift,” one person said in the official trailer.
Now, Riley is currently serving a five-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to wire fraud in 2021.
Fans of the podcast have been patiently waiting for the Scamanda documentary series to premiere. But it looks like the ABC series has delayed indefinitely, according to recent reports from the network. Here’s what we know so far.
The Scamanda documentary was originally set to premiere on ABC Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 10 p.m, with new episodes airing every week on ABC and Hulu.
But ABC announced that it will be pushing back the Scamanda premiere to 2025 to make room in its fall lineup for six simulcast NFL games beginning in October. What Would You Do? will be replacing Scamanda on Wednesday evenings instead. Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and Press Your Luck have also been pushed back to 2025.
A premiere date has not been shared yet. But a rep for ABC confirmed to Decider that the new premiere date will be announced later.
Fans will be able to stream new Scamanda episodes on Hulu the day after they premiere on ABC.
For now, fans looking to tune into the Amanda Riley drama can listen to Lionsgate Sound’s original podcast , hosted by award-winning journalist Charlie Webster.
