Zachery Ty Bryan has been arrested for driving under the influence and driving without a valid license in California.
The actor was arrested in Custer County on Friday (Oct. 25) morning. Per TMZ , the officers found Bryan asleep in the backseat of a car before they later saw him driving.
In a video of the arrest obtained by TMZ, Bryan can be seen conversing with the police officers during the traffic stop and admitting that he drank “too much” to continue driving.
“Everyone depends on me, man,” he says at one point. He later tells the officer, “I got seven kids. I’m a good dad. I pay the bills.”
He later says, “I’m a good dude, man. I don’t know why everybody, like, – just, I’m sorry, I like to drink.”
Bryan failed to conduct a sobriety test during the traffic stop, according to TMZ. When asked to rank his sobriety on a scale from one to 10, he admitted to the officer that he was at a five, prompting them to arrest him for DUI.
This arrest comes after Bryan was arrested for driving under the influence in February. He had been stopped by police Feb. 17 on suspicion of his involvement in a car accident earlier that evening.
He was later charged with a felony for driving under the influence with three or more priors within the last 10 years. At the time, he faced up to three years in prison if convicted.
Prior to that, Bryan pled guilty to felony assault after getting into a domestic dispute with a woman believed to be Johnnie Faye Cartwright, his longtime partner and the mother of three of his children. He was sentenced to seven days in jail and 36 months of supervised probation in October 2023, and was ordered to undergo substance abuse treatment.
His attorney, John Kolego, said in a statement at the time, “Mr. Bryan decided to accept this resolution and admit that he recklessly caused physical injury to his domestic partner to avoid further trauma to his family so they could move on and heal.”
