Established in 2012 by Shane Baker and Pat Heist, Wilderness Trail Distillery specializes in making its unique bourbon, rye and vodka using locally grown grains. The tequila, from within the Campari America portfolio, is produced by Casa San Nicolas in the Los Altos region of Jalisco. The group traveled with Campari America’s Connecticut State Manager Gary Dritschler to experience the tequila production firsthand, exploring the working agave fields, as well as the distillery. Master Distiller Jesus Susunaga Acosta led the tour and concluded it with a tasting of all the distillery’s offerings, which include Espolòn Blanco, Reposado and Añejo tequilas, each 40% ABV, all handcrafted with single-sourced 100% pure blue Weber agave.
