Mid-Coast Audubon lobster bake fundraiser in Bremen Aug. 31
Mid-Coast Audubon is hosting its annual lobster bake fundraiser at Hog Island Audubon camp in Bremen on Saturday, Aug. 31. Members of the Mid-Coast Audubon Board will display their cooking talents and be available to answer bird questions. An $85 donation covers boat transportation, a meal of a lobster, potato, and corn on the cob all baked over an open fire on the beach, plus clams, baked onion, lemonade, coffee and a special dessert, and the opportunity to explore the island before or after eating.
Early Morning Structure Fire in Van Buren
VAN BUREN, Maine (WAGM) - The Van Buren Fire Department responded to a fire early this morning. According to the Van Buren Fire Department, at around 1:40am they responded to the area of 88 Main Street for a structure fire. When crews arrived, they discovered multiple structures were on fire behind the address.
Members appointed to Mayo Mill Dam Review Committee
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Following last month’s vote to reject a referendum article concerning removal of the downtown Mayo Mill Dam on the Piscataquis River — indicating citizens were in favor of using tax money to fund studies, permitting, and repair costs for the structure — a 9-member Mayo Mill Dam Review Committee has been formed to help determine the future of the site.
Bath YMCA regular James Wells cheers on fiancee at Paris Olympics
BATH, Maine — Mainer James Wells, a regular of the Bath YMCA, is cheering on his now fiancee Lilly King as she continues to make a splash at the Paris Olympics this year. King recently competed in the 100-meter breaststroke and will compete again Wednesday in the 200-meter race.

The Mapleton Little League has one week left of its regular season. Thursday, July 25, at 5:30 p.m., Langley’s Team will play Mapleton Oil. Monday at 5:30 p.m., it’s Buck Construction vs. SMO and Buck Farms vs. Porter Farms, while Mapleton Lions Club plays Mapleton Oil. The 5:30 p.m. game for Tuesday will be Buck Farms vs. Langley’s Team while Porter Farms will practice at 6 p.m. on the right field.

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Low pressure... in the upper levels of the atmosphere... will move along the Maine/Quebec border this morning then to our north this afternoon and evening. This will keep us under mostly cloudy skies with some breaks of sun possible late morning through the afternoon. Widely scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will be possible at any point throughout the day. Rainfall could be heavy in any showers and thunderstorms and thunderstorms could also produce gusty winds and small hail. It’ll be humid with dew points climbing to the upper 60s to low 70s. Temperatures this afternoon will be near or a bit above 70° along the coast and mid-70s to near 80° elsewhere. Any lingering showers and thunderstorms will move out early tonight as the upper low moves away followed by partly to mostly cloudy skies and patchy fog for the remainder of the night. It’ll be warm and humid tonight with lows in the mid-60s to near 70°.
