Joseph Calamia II is a partner at Sales Tax Defense, a Deer Park-based firm that specializes in sales, use and transaction taxes. The certified public accountant has more than 16 years of experience in multiple areas of tax representation, including multi-state sales and use tax consulting. Calamia represents clients before government revenue agencies and auditors, as well as Bureau of Conciliation and Mediation Services hearings and other tax hearings.

Calamia received his Bachelor of Science from Briarcliffe College, where he was part of the Sigma Delta International Honor Society for Business. He went on to earn his Master of Science in taxation from SUNY Old Westbury. Calamia is committed to providing his clients with results, as well as educating others in the accounting industry. A member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, he is a graduate of the organization’s Leadership Institute. He is also a board member of the National Conference of CPA Practitioners. Calamia has led expert discussions and seminars on sales and use tax for numerous businesses and organizations throughout the country. He has also authored articles in industry publications.

His active community memberships include the Long Island Elite, a nonprofit organization that raises funds for a different local charity each year. As a board member of the organization, he is on several committees, and he has assisted with planning and organizing different events, including the organization’s annual gala. He is also an ardent supporter of the Long Island Fight for Charity.
