A cool down on the way!
A dry cold front that moved through overnight Monday into Tuesday morning will finally bring a break in the heat that we have been stuck under since July 5th. Daytime highs will drop by at least 5 to 10 degrees as we head from the upper 90s and triple digits to the 80s and 90s for most for the remainder of the week, with exceptions like the LC valley who will still see a few 100-degree days. We are watching another dry cold front for Wednesday evening and Thursday morning that will produce gusty winds and the potential for heightened fire danger.

Spokane Fire Department battles multiple fires during record heat
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Fire Department (SFD) and Spokane County Fire District 9 responded to several fires last week during the record-setting heat. According to SFD, on July 18 around 5:30 p.m., firefighters received multiple calls about a house fire in the area of North Majorie Street in the Pacific Park neighborhood. Upon arrival, firefighters found a large garage fire at a three-story home. The fire had also spread to a car parked in the driveway.

Ephrata woman finds grenade on doorstep, bomb squad responds
EPHRATA - An Ephrata woman's shocking find prompted a response from a bomb squad over the weekend, according to police. In their blotter, Ephrata police say a woman left someone to care for her lawn while she was away and returned to find a grenade at her back door. The call about the incendiary came in just before 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Military explosive experts from Yakima responded and determined the grenade was no longer capable of exploding. The bomb squad confiscated the device for disposal. It's not known how the grenade was found, but its suspected that it was located or dug up by the person tending to the homeowner's yard.
