SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Newell Brands, the parent company of Yankee Candle, announced on Monday an update on the closure of their South Deerfield distribution center.

Newell Brands said the last day for operations at the South Deerfield distribution center at 27 Yankee Candle Way will be Monday, September 9th.

Newell Brands announced their plans to close the facility back in January as part of their “supply chain consolidation and optimization efforts.” At the time, the company said the closure will result in nearly 200 job losses.

The flagship Yankee Candle Village store, manufacturing facility, and research lab will remain open in western Massachusetts.

A spokesperson for Newell Brand sent 22News the following statement:

As part of our supply chain consolidation and optimization efforts, and in an effort to provide employees with significant notice, earlier this year, we announced that we are relocating distribution operations from our facility at 27 Yankee Candle Way to another one of our distribution centers. Today, we confirmed that this will take place on September 9.

Unfortunately, this will result in some employees leaving the organization. We thank them for their service and dedication and are committed to supporting them with transition benefits.

Importantly, there are no changes to our other Yankee Candle operations in Western Massachusetts. Yankee was founded in the area, and we are committed to maintaining a strong local presence with our flagship Yankee Candle Village store and various research, manufacturing, distribution and office facilities.”
