Sonic boom warning issued for some Michigan areas Monday
The 180th Fighter Wing in Ohio is once again warning residents in Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio that a sonic boom might be heard Monday afternoon while the unit conducts testing. Carrollton hosts Malvern, Southern Local, New Phila
Carrollton, Malvern, Southern Local and New Philadelphia high school football teams converged on Community Field in Carrollton for 7-on-7 play July 11. The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced in April football 7-on-7 competition will now be permitted at any time prior to and after the season, other than the 28-day no-contact period immediately after the season. Thanks to a local historian, the 154-year history of Carrollton High School is, as they say, “in the books.”. It’s literally “in the books” thanks to Ronald J. (Ron) Colaprete, who recently finished and published a 400-plus page book that chronicles the history of the school back to its opening date on Nov. 15, 1869.
Fire destroys Brush Rd. barn
Two days after fire destroyed a 40×100-feet barn used to store hay and straw, smoke continued to escape from bales of hay exposed when the structure collapsed. Augusta Volunteer Fire Department Chief Charles Wright said his department was toned June 12 at 8:50 p.m. for a fully involved structure fire at 1235 Brush Rd., Minerva.

Mike DeWine announced Tuesday that the stretch of I-90 between East 55th and East 260th has been designated as the state's first "Speed and Seat Belt Safety Corridor." This means an increased number of state troopers and police officers will be monitoring the road for offenders, with the Ohio State Highway Patrol as well as the Cleveland, Euclid, and Bratenahl police departments all pitching in to help.
