    Defiance County common pleas

    Fernando Cruz, 36, 844 N. Clinton St., appeared for sentencing on a charge of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. He was placed on community control for two years, and a firearm and ammunition seized in the investigation were ordered forfeited to the state.

    Chad Morris, 47, 635 Clinton St., pleaded guilty plea to domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor, and was placed on probation for two years.

    Joe Mendez Jr., 19, 1221 Ayersville Ave., pleaded guilty to felonious assault, a second-degree felony; and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and sentencing was set for May 9.

    Antonio Briseno, 61, 1908 Riverview Drive, pleaded not guilty to four counts of violating a protection order, each a fifth-degree felony. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for April 2 and he was given a personal-recognizance bond.

    Jamey Davis, 47, Oakwood, pleaded not guilty to having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony; aggravated possession of drugs, and possession of cocaine, each a fifth-degree felony. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for April 4 and bond was set at $50,000 with a 10% allowance provision.

    Bobby Hunt, 41, 1380 Ayersville Ave, pleaded not guilty to possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for April 11 and he was given a personal-recognizance bond.

    Kevin Nonhof, 60, Sheboygan, Wisc., pleaded not guilty to two counts of felonious assault, each a second-degree felony. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for April 11 and bond was set at $150,000 with a 10% allowance provision.

    Jerry Stevens, 66, Archbold, pleaded not guilty to OVI, a third-degree felony; and assault, a fourth-degree felony. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for April 4 and bond was set at $50,000 with a 10% allowance provision.
