Boys basketball: Hottmann scores 22 in Norskies' season-opening loss at Middleton
Lincoln Hottmann poured in 22 points, but the DeForest boys’ basketball team fell 78-63 in a season-opening loss at Middleton on Saturday, Nov. 25. The Norskies trailed 35-34 at the half, but the Cardinals outscored DeForest 43-29 in the second half to pull away. Anthony Glenn also scored in double figures for the Norskies with 10 points. Jackson Accuardi paced the team in rebounds with six, while Caleb Brandl finished with three assists. Nick Hermansen had seven points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Boys basketball: Help from Norskies' junior class arrives
Reinforcements have arrived. Norway Grove Memorial Lutheran Church in DeForest held their first ever Thanksgiving Crafts and Pie sale Nov. 18. Veronica Eicher, a member of the church council, thought up the idea and says that they plan to continue hosting the event every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Artists and bakers are charged $30 to reserve a spot, and are allowed to keep whatever proceeds they make. “We are happy to have the space and see people come together,” said Stacy Gahlman-Schroeder, Norway Grove Memorial Lutheran Church pastor. “Its nice to see people connecting and reconnecting over the arts.”

Among the DeForest Times-Tribune’s subscribers far and wide is one in the North Pole. Santa Claus continues to read local newspapers to learn who’s naughty and nice, but more importantly, to learn what kids’ holiday wishes are. Windsor Village Board adopts final 2024 budget
A new municipal building and several road rehabilitation projects headline Windsor’s adopted, and relatively balanced 2024 budget. The 2023 assessed value of the village saw a $87.7 million increase, resulting in a total of $1.4 billion and continuing the trend of growth over recent years. The mill rate for 2024 is set at $4.09 per $1,000 of assessed property value, in 2023 the mill rate was $3.84. The twinkling lights of DeForest: Village tree lighting ceremony is Nov. 29
Christmas is nothing without the twinkling lights that string around the porches and storefronts in town. They almost produce a Christmas Tune of their own. On Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m, the village of DeForest will be hosting the Third Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Fireman’s Park. When the village tree is lit at 5:30, there will be a special visit from the jolly-bearded man from way up north. Deputies investigating Burke home invasion
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a home invasion on the 6300 block of Arrowhead Trail in the town of Burke. Deputies were called to the home at 1:13 a.m. Nov. 17 after the homeowner came face-to-face with the suspects, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
