Girls tennis: DeForest's Catencamp and Golliher headed back to state
Marin Catencamp and Sophia Golliher will be representing the DeForest girls’ tennis team at the WIAA Division 1 state meet. Sporting a 25-7 record, the Norskies’ No. 1 doubles team is headed back to state after their appearance last year. They will face Westosha Central’s Ella Alcaide and Gianna Mandli (18-12) in the opening round on Thursday at 3 p.m. At sectionals, Catencamp and Golliher dispatched a duo from Baraboo 6-0, 3-6, 10-7 to qualify for state with the first-round win. They lost to tough tandems from Madison West and Waunake in their other two sectional matches. At sub-sectionals, DeForest singles players Kaiya Hegarty and Joanna Wells won their first matches, as did all three Norski doubles teams, including the No. 2 team of Lily Finnegan and Carley O’Connor and the No. 3 tandem of Reanna Schmidt and Emma Eiselt. All of them lost in the second round, except Catencamp and Golliher.
DeForest American Legion, Auxiliary to meet
The Olson-Grinde-O’Donnell Post 348 of the American Legion and its Auxiliary, will conduct their monthly meetings at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Cornerstone Community Center (formerly known as the Deforest Area Community and Senior Center).
