    Boys' swimming: O'Leary wins 500 freestyle at Badger Large Conference Championships

    DeForest’s Carter O’Leary won the 500 freestyle at Saturday’s Badger Large Conference Championships in Milton for boys’ swimming, touching the wall in 5:00.33.

    Despite his efforts, the Norskies finished fifth as a team, totaling 267.5 points. Winning the seven-team meet was Waunakee, who scored 431 points.

    O’Leary also was runner-up in the 100 breaststroke, swimming to a time of 1:05.08.nI the 500 freestyle, Sterling Bennett helped the DeForest cause by taking seventh in 5:49.16.

    The DeForest 200 medley relay group of Jakson Wagner, Shawn Colebrooke, O’Leary and Wyatt Parker finished fourth in 1:48.19.

    Individually, Wagner swam to fourth in the 200 freestyle, turning in a time of 1:58.47, and sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:05.15) Parker was eighth in the 200 individual medley in 2:24.66.

    Erik Wiencierz and Shawn Colebrooke were 10th and 11th, respectively, in the 50 freestyle, with times of 24.86 and 25.13. Meanwhile, Colbrooke raced to seventh in the 100 butterfly (1:00.85).

    Wagner, O’Leary, Shawn Colebrooke and Parker took fourth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:39.68.

    In the 200 freestyle relay, the quartet of Kirby Colebrook, Kaden Lewis, Riley Frederick and Wiencierz took 10th in 1:47.64.
