Following two losses, the DeForest girls’ basketball team has won two straight contests, including a 73-28 pummeling of Fort Atkinson on Friday.

Now 13-7 overall, with a 5-6 mark in Badger Large Conference play, the Norskies clamped down defensively on the Blackhawks, allowing only 14 points in both halves.

"After a slow start, we turned up our defensive pressure to speed up the pace of the game," said DeForest head coach Jerry Schwenn. "Linea Roed got her first start and made two 3-point shots, which brought a ton of excitement to our team.'

Rylan Oberg paced DeForest with 16 points, while Jada Kelliher added 14, Ally Armstrong had 11 and Alexis Accuardi finished with 10.

Earlier in the week, the Norskies traveled to Watertown and defeated the Goslings 51-44 on Tuesday, Jan. 30, in a Badger Large tilt. It was another balanced scoring night for DeForest, as Oberg finished with a team-high 14 points. Jordyn Derlein totaled 10 points and nine rebounds, to go with two assists.

Oberg also had seven boards, four assists and three steals. Kelliher collected eight points and seven rebounds, while Armstrong led the Norskies with 11 rebounds.

"This was a big response against a good team," said Schwenn. "Watertown was very focussed on running multiple players at Jada and Rylan. The team stepped up to take advantage of seams within their zone defense. Our success was a total team effort as much on the defensive end, as on the offensive end."
