Boys swimming: O'Leary, Wagner, two relay teams headed to state

Carter O’Leary and Jakson Wagner punched their tickets to state, as did the DeForest boys’ swimming team’s 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams.

O’Leary won an individual title at Saturday’s WIAA Division 2 McFarland Sectional, taking first in the 500 freestyle in 4:49.94. He also placed third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:47.14, as he qualified for state in both events.

O’Leary and Wagner also led the 200 medley relay to a sixth-place finish in 1:43.66, as they were joined by Shawn Colebrooke and Wyatt Parker. That same quartet placed sixth in the 400 freestyle relay, finishing in 3:29.71.

As for Wagner, he took fifth in the 100 freestyle to qualify for state individually in the event. Wagner swam to a time of 49.87.

The WIAA Division 2 state meet will be held Friday and Saturday at Waukesha South Natatorium.Boys
