I-59 exit at Hammondville is open to traffic again
A four-mile segment of reconstructed I-59 northbound in DeKalb County opened to traffic Thursday. It includes the northbound Exit 231 ramps at SR-40/SR-117 in Hammondville. Contractor A.G. Peltz Group replaced the old roadway with a new concrete roadway between milepost 229 and milepost 233.5. This concludes the first phase of a $40.8 million project to replace a total of about eight miles of roadway from Fort Payne to north of Hammondville.

Fort Payne Man Arrested on Allegations of Inappropriate Sexual Conduct with Minors
DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden and Sheriff’s Office Investigators received a complaint by a concerned parent regarding a part-time deputy by the name of Joshua Dane Wells (40 of Fort Payne). Wells was not employed full-time by the Sheriff’s Office and was currently in the Alabama Law Enforcement Police Academy attempting to complete his certification to become a law enforcement officer.
