Crossville man arrested for shooting into occupied dwelling
FORT PAYNE, Ala. — On Thursday, June 13, 2024, at around 4:15 P.M., deputies were dispatched to County Road 386 in DeKalb County following a report of someone shooting into an occupied dwelling. The DeKalb County Investigations Unit and DeKalb County Drug Task Force conducted a search warrant of the residence after one of the victims fled the scene. During the search warrant, a substantial amount of methamphetamine and a handgun were found. Additionally, nine shell casings were found during the search, with five of those hitting the residence.

One Hurt in DeKalb County Wreck on Tuesday Morning
One person was hurt in a single-vehicle accident, on Tuesday morning, in DeKalb County. According to the Alabama State Troopers Post, that wreck was on County Road 51 at approximately 6:35am, and involved a 2011 Nissan, driven by a Collinsville woman. Afterwards, she was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries.

Heat advisory for North Alabama from Wednesday to Friday
On Tuesday at 1:37 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory valid from Wednesday 1 p.m. until Friday 7 p.m. for Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Jackson, DeKalb and Cullman counties. The weather service says, "Heat index values between 102 and 108 degreesF are expected."

UPDATE in DeKalb County Murder Case
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a shooting that recently took place; the sheriff’s office says the victim is 38-year-old Kristy Gladden Hancock – who was found Tuesday, dead – with a gunshot wound after the officers had responded to a call, off of County Road 221, in Collinsville.
