After news broke that someone had stolen a Little Free Library from a front yard in Del City, the community has banded together to replace the library and restore hope for little readers.

The Little Free Library was handpainted with butterflies and dragonflies, made out of an old Edmond Sun stand, and was filled with books of all sizes to serve the kids in the neighborhood.

On July 12, the library was stolen from Kennedy Henry's yard, KFOR reports. After the theft, Henry's mother Jeniffer Smith established a GoFundMe to fund a replacement library.

"She set up this library for the kids in her neighborhood, and it was one of the first things she did when she bought her home," Smith wrote in the GoFundMe post.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the fundraiser had surpassed its goal of $300. Smith said that if the original library is returned, the funds would be used as a reward.

"We put a lot of effort into making it just right for the kids in the neighborhood, and they absolutely loved it. My daughter felt amazing being able to give back to the community in this way," Smith wrote.
