Rickner sentenced for matricide and related felonies
Convicted murderer Matthew Earl Rickner, 30, was sentenced a total of 60 years, six months for matricide, the shooting of Phyllis Rickner, his mother, last December 29. Rickner was given the maximum sentence of 40 years to Life for Count 1, violation of Penal Code 187 by Superior Court Judge Darren McElfresh. Renovations Announced For Legacy Homeless Project
Del Norte Health and Human Services will begin major renovations in its Legacy project, converting the 30 unit motel room Coastal Inn and Suites into permanent housing options for individuals and families. Work is scheduled to be completed by October 24. The Legacy is owned by Operation Home Key and administered by the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
