Greenway Construction to build another cold storage facility in Pharr Produce Park
PHARR, Texas – Construction is underway for yet another cold storage facility within the Pharr Produce Park. The latest project sees Greenway Construction building a 50,000 square foot warehouse for its sister company, LakeWay Produce. This is just the first phase. The second phase will see it expanded to 94,000 square feet.
Ingleside gets down and dirty for Garden Club fundraiser
Residents and Ingleside businesses were asked to “Throw The Dirt On Us” and, boy, did they bring on the dirt. The Ingleside Garden Club received a total of more than $1,000 worth of potting soil as part of a fundraiser. The soil will be used for various projects the club is involved with to beautify the city. Cash donations were also given, which will be used to buy potting soil.
Coastal Bend Food Bank to hold mobile food distribution event
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coastal Bend Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry is holding another food distribution event on Tuesday morning. Those in need of food supplies can head over to the Coastal Bend Food Bank, located on 5442 Bear Lane from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. (or while supplies last). You do not need to register if you have attended this distribution in 2024.

Laredo, East LA and Hialeah, among the Latino-heavy cities with the highest poverty rates in the U.S.
A new study of the ten census-designated cities with 100,000 or more residents and high Latino populations showed their poverty rates are 50% higher than the national average. The ten communities, which include Laredo, Texas; East LA and Hialeah, Florida had an average poverty rate of 18.7%, considerably higher than the national poverty rate of 12.5% and the overall Latino poverty rate of 17.2%, the report by Axios shows.
