BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Community members in Delano will gather this week for a vigil remembering victims of crime.

The vigil is set to take place Thursday, July 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Community Center located at 436 Jefferson St. in Delano.

Pastor David Vivas is organizing the event and is asking community members to show support for families who have lost someone to violence and their loved ones are not forgotten.

“We need to speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves,” Vivas said.

“Many families are going through a journey of grief and seeking justice for their loved one whose life was cut short in a tragic manner.”

Family and friends of victims are asked to bring a photo of their loved one for the vigil. Anyone with questions can call 661-721-1511 and leave a voice message. Organizers said that phone number can’t be messaged via text.
