Deadwyler named NCC chamber president
WILMINGTON – Yvonne Deadwyler has formally been named president of the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce, removing the interim from her title. Deadwyler served as the chamber’s vice president for nine months before Bob Chadwick stepped down at the end of 2023, acting as the interim president ever since. Her formal appointment was formalized on March 22.
VIEWPOINT: New strategies needed to improve public schools, student outcomes
Delaware’s public education system is in dire need of reform and new approaches. According to the Department of Education, a staggering six of every ten students are not proficient in English Language Arts. A shocking 70% are not meeting standards for mathematics. One in five students are missing from the classroom at least 10% of the time. Teachers have also been chronically absent, leaving students in the hands of substitutes, often for weeks at a time.

Jennifer Antonik joins Delaware Business Times team
The Delaware Business Times has recently welcomed Jennifer Antonik as its associate editor. Antonik, who most recently worked as the public relations coordinator at the Delaware Farm Bureau, will be leading the Delaware Business Times’ efforts to cover business, government and economic development matters in central and southern Delaware. She takes the position after previous associate editor, Katie Tabeling, was promoted to editor in late January.

Incyte signs drug development deal with Chinese firm
WILMINGTON — Incyte signed a new collaboration and license agreement with a Chinese firm on a new treatment, setting its eyes on the international market. The deal with China Medical System Holdings Limited (CMS), a Shanghai-based investment company that produces and markets pharmaceutical products, is for the development and commercialization of povorcitinib, which is an oral drug that targets and blocks JAK1 enzymes linked with cancer, inflammation and other diseases.
