The Wilmington University Wildcats continue their winning ways improving to 45-14 and moving to the double elimination Finals (Bracket 1) of the NCAA Division 2 Tournament. This is the third year in a row the team has made it to the Supers and the second time in three years they have made it to the Tournament Finals.

Their championship run began in post season play on Saturday April 27 with a 2-0 win over Holy Family (Kinsley Hall, Lily Hoban -Indian River grads). Next up a 9-1 win over Bloomfield on May 2, a 4-2 loss against Bridgeport (Polytech grad Katie Burawsk i and Sussex Central grad Mya Jones ), a 4-3 win over neighboring program Goldey-Beacom ( Hannah Davis -Delmar, Abigail O’Shields -Indian River, Bri Snover -Mount Pleasant, Cat Nelson -Delcastle), an 8-0 win over Bridgeport on May 8 to win the CACC Tournament.

That gave the Wildcats the bid and No. 1 seed in the double eliminaton NCAA tournament East Region. They proceeded to defeat St. Thomas Aquinas 10-0 on May 9, Assumption on May 11 and played for the East Region Championship on May 12, defeating Assumption 8-0.

Onto the Super Regional May 14 and 15 where they would defeat Adelphi 3-0 and 12-0 to take the East Super Regional and avenge their losses to Adelphi from 2022 in the Super Regional.

The accolades continue to mount for Coach Mike Shehorn and his team. They outscored their opponents in the Regionals and Supers 36-0, not allowing a run and they have marched through the post season at home, in front of their home crowd and on their own turf. Kylee Gunkel was named DCCCA East Region Pitcher of the Year. Outfielders Tristyn Stewart, Taylor Gillis, and Utility Sara Miller were named First Team 2024 D2CCA All-East Region.
