    Transfers. NIL. Participation rates.

These were a few of the topics that continued to be raised when we asked the more than 20 head coaches who earlier this month walked through Delaware Online's High School Football Media Day about the top issues affecting high school football in Delaware.

They will continue to be points of conversation as the Delaware high school football world tracks the impact of recent action taken by the DIAA to discourage transfers after a player's third season and to introduce NIL regulations.

"I mean obviously kids transfer for certain reasons, but I think now a kid that just wants to go to a super-powered team his senior year — I think these rules are important because it levels the playing field a little bit," said St. Georges head coach John Wilson.

"We all know the NIL is right down the road, but again it's something we need to adapt to," said Salesianum head coach Gene Delle Donne.

Several other coaches raised questions about participation levels, an issue without a simple fix.

"I love our kids, but there's just way too many high schools," said Conrad head coach Chet Walters. "I think that just depletes the performance of a lot of things and it waters down the overall product."

"We just don't get as many kids who want to play football now so it's harder to get the quality practice time in to have a quality product on the field," said Wilmington Friends head coach Rob Tattersall.

We know pose the question to you, our readers. What's the biggest issue facing Delaware high school football?
