Taylor Brown, the guard who has played a leading role on Ursuline's basketball team since eighth grade, has transferred from the Wilmington school to Long Island Lutheran, a six-time New York girls basketball state champion.

Long Island Lutheran announced the move on Instagram on Friday.

Brown led Ursuline to the Delaware's girls basketball state championship game in 2023 alongside fellow eighth grader Jezelle "GG" Banks. Last season, the duo again took Ursuline to the state championship where they captured the title with a 49-48 win over Caravel .

She earned second-team All-State honors as an eighth grader and first-team All-State as a freshman .

Brown, who commuted to Ursuline from Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, now heads to one of the strongest high school programs in the nation. Long Island Lutheran reached the top spot in ESPN's ranking of the best high school girls basketball teams in the country last March . Three Long Island Lutheran athletes played in last year's McDonald's All-American game, marking the first time in the event's history that a high school sent three players to the game in one year.

Long Island Lutheran on Friday announced the addition of three other transfer students, in addition to Brown.

Brown is regarded as one of the top prospects nationwide in the class of 2027. Ahead of her sophomore year, she has reported receiving scholarship offers from Miami, Louisville, Temple, Marquette, Alabama, Florida State, Maryland, Michigan State and Florida, among other schools.

This summer, she has played for the Philly Rise AAU team and in the Overtime Select league, an eight-team league in Atlanta showcasing the top 15-18-year-old girls basketball players in the nation.

Ursuline is tentatively scheduled to play Long Island Lutheran in February.
