A worker from Illinois lost his life at Prime Hook Beach Saturday, according to Sussex County EMS and Delaware State Police.

At 1:49 p.m., Delaware State Police's Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit was dispatched to a residential construction project on the 29000 block of Pine St. in the small, unincorporated community of Prime Hook Beach, about a block from the ocean.

When troopers arrived at the scene, preliminary findings indicated what state troopers believe to be an industrial accident. A 30-year-old man had died while performing pile-driving work at the housing construction site, according to Delaware State Police spokesperson India Sturgis. He was from McHenry, Illinois.

"Out of respect for the family's privacy, we will not be sharing further details about the nature of his injuries," Sturgis wrote.
