    Delawareans can expect a seasonable, sun-splashed Labor Day holiday weekend

    Delawareans will be greeted by seasonal temperatures over the Labor Day holiday weekend, with temperatures generally hovering in the high 70s - low 80s range.

    Here's everything you need to know about early weather forecast for the Labor Day weekend , whether you're planning to fly off for a late summer getaway or staying close to home.

    How hot will it be on Labor Day?

    The general temperatures in Delaware for the three-day Labor Day weekend will be right around the seasonal average, according to AccuWeather's outlook for Wilmington, DE.

    • Saturday, Aug. 31 : temperatures expected to reach a high of 83 degrees, with a real-feel of 86. Chance of spot thunderstorms in the afternoon.
    • Sunday, Sept. 1 : temperatures expected to reach 77 degrees, with a real-feel of 84. It will be mostly sunny on Sunday.
    • Labor Day Monday, September 2 : temperatures expected to reach 76 degrees, with a real-feel of 77. It'll be mostly sunny on Labor Day, with zero precipitation anticipated.

    The heat is building off the energy of a late-season heat wave, according to AccuWeather.

    ""It should feel like summertime for much of the mid-Atlantic region by early week," AccuWeather Chief On-Air Meteorologist Bernie Rayno said in AccuWeather's latest warm-weather update . "Especially after the recent early taste of autumn conditions."

    What is open, closed on Labor Day?

    Aside from the weather, you'll need to know what is actually open and closed on Labor Day.

    The major banks — including Chase , PNC , and Truist — will be closed on Labor Day Monday, Sept. 2.

    Most public schools, along with colleges and universities, will be closed on Labor Day.

    FedEx will be closed on Labor Day, and the service will not deliver mail, outside of Custom Critical deliveries .

    FedEx customers may have limited access to FedEx Office on Labor Day, however.

    The United States Postal Service will not deliver mail on Labor Day.

    "Labor Day is a widely observed holiday, which means that many businesses are closed and not producing outgoing mail," read USPS's Labor Day 2024 memo . "There will be no regular delivery service except for Holiday Premium Priority Mail Express and Holiday Same Day Package delivery."

    UPS will be closed on Labor Day and the shipping service will not pick up or deliver mail.
