Police investigating fatal shooting of 28-year-old man in Wilmington's Riverfront area

Wilmington police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday morning.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, was taken to the hospital, where he died.

The shooting happened about 1:48 a.m. in the 100 block of S. West St., in the Riverfront district.

It is the 10th fatal shooting in Wilmington this year. Nine people had been fatally shot in the city through this same period in 2023. There were 13 fatal shootings in Wilmington in all of 2023.

The shooting is under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to Wilmington police at 302-576-3654 or give information to Delaware Crime Stoppers at delawarecrimestoppers.org or by calling 800-TIP-3333.
