PHILADELPHIA − Eagles legend Jason Kelce won't be snapping the ball, like he has for the past 13 seasons, as the Eagles play their first home game at Lincoln Financial Field on Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons.
But the longtime Eagles' center will be nearby as an analyst for ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcast. That's one of the ubiquitous Kelce's new gig after he retired from the Eagles in the spring. He's expected to be broadcasting live from the parking lot at Lincoln Financial Field.
The game will also be nostalgic because the Eagles will be honoring one of Kelce's teammates in Nick Foles, who played for the Eagles from 2012-14 and again from 2017-18. Foles announced his retirement from the NFL last month. Foles, of course, is most known for filling in for injured quarterback Carson Wentz and leading the Eagles to their only Super Bowl victory in the 2017 season.

That game included the famous "Philly Special" play in which Foles caught a touchdown pass at the end of the first half. Foles suggesting the play on the sidelines to former coach Doug Pederson was made into a statue outside the Linc.
There are only seven Eagles left from Foles' final season in Philly in 2018 when he again replaced an injured Wentz and led the Eagles back to the playoffs.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts was at Alabama at the time, but he's familiar with Foles' legacy, both as a Super Bowl hero and for the "Philly Special."
"I never met him, but obviously a legend here," Hurts said. "A lot of respect for him and his game. I’m happy and proud of all the success he’s had, and I’m glad he’s able to share in that moment."
Hurts, in fact, ran the "Philly Special" while he was at Oklahoma as a senior in 2019. When reminded about that, Hurts said with a laugh: "Y’all trying to get at something this week, that y’all want to see, or something?"
It doesn't hurt having Foles in the building if the Eagles do run it.
