    Good morning, Small Wonder!

One of the things we take very seriously around here is keeping you and your family safe. We regularly report on health department and CDC warnings, product recalls, safety alerts from police and first responders and restaurant violations.

And we take big-picture looks at how Delaware’s healthcare system and local government impact your health: Delaware needs more health care workers. How next governor can reform the medical system. Stick with us as we continue to report on statewide health issues and related leglislation.

We also keep our eyes skyward, letting you know whatever we know about incoming storms and upcoming forecasts: Helene becomes a hurricane, but Delaware is watching a different storm. And we offer tips to keep you safe should a storm approach: Tornado warning in your area? Here’s what to do.

It’s Throwback Thursday, so here’s a look back at the First State’s role in the selection of vice presidents: History happened here: 2 vice presidential picks were sealed in and close to Delaware.

To protect Route 1 on the north side of the Indian River Inlet, Delaware is finally doing something that won't wash away with the next high tide, reports Shannon Marvel McNaught.

“The dune on the north side has been breached by the Atlantic Ocean numerous times this year, flooding the Delaware beaches' main highway. The beach directly to the north of the inlet, a Delaware Seashore State Park tourism asset, has disappeared.

“The Delaware Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation issued a statement requesting the state hold a public meeting on the issues at the inlet Aug. 27, and a meeting followed on Tuesday, Sept. 24.’’
