    Happy Hump Day, Delaware!

We are at the midway of a rather nice fall week. Unfortunately, that is not how it's shaping us for our friends to the south in Florida. Hurricane Milton is forecast to be catastrophic, with far-reaching impacts as it moves inland, which is expected Wednesday night into Thursday. Being that Delaware is a coastal Atlantic state, and low-lying, you'd think we'd see our fair share of devastating tropical systems. Think again, according to the reporting on the probability of a major hurricane's direct hit on Delaware .

Meanwhile, relief efforts continue for those affected by the recent Helene. Western Florida, western North Carolina, western Virginia and other parts of lower Appalachia are still reeling. Groups from Delaware are assisting with the recovery. This is our list of how those in the First State can help .

    And now, more news …

Delaware legend who George Thorogood called 'superstar' is dead at 70

Wilmington native Johnny Neel, who played keys for the Allman Brothers Band, died Sunday, Oct. 6 at age 70. Neel was a blind rock star, who, beyond the Allman Brothers, is tied to Willie Nelson, Peter Wolf, Bruce Willis, Gov't Mule and more, writes Ryan Cormier and Andre Lamar.

Neel spoke as recently as April to Delaware Online/The News Journal about his enduring love for the June Jam Festival in Houston. The Delaware Rock & Roll Hall of Famer also had a wild sense of humor, Cormier and Lamar report.
